The European Commission's Joint Research Centre - Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (JRC-IPTS, Information Society Unit) organises an international conference on the Dynamics of Media and Content Industries. The conference will bring together a highly diversified set of expert speakers coming from different background: industry (firms and trade associations), policy makers and academia from Europe and the USA.
The Conference aims at presenting the results of the IPTS "Media and Content Industries" studies and put them within the context of EU policies. These studies, recently finalised, focus on the impacts of digitalisation on the Media and Content Industries: transformation of production, distribution, pricing and consumption of the products and services.
The conference will be organised by horizontal topic rather than by industrial vertical sub-sector. Such horizontal approach allows gathering global views of the common trends while allowing illustrating the differences. It gives and opportunity to participants from different sectors, with different expertise to give their views about the main transformations the various sectors went through.
The following "horizontal" topics are currently envisaged covered through various sessions:
- The rocky road to digital media worlds: toward the 3d wave?
- The changing nature of competition in the ecosystem
- Looking for business models.
- The funding of creation.
- Asset management in the digital age: beyond copyright.
- Policies for a digital media world
