Service-oriented Programmable Smart Environments for Older Europeans

SOPRANO stands for "Service-oriented Programmable Smart Environments for Older Europeans" and is an Integrated Project in the European Commission's 6th Framework Programme (IST Priority 6th Call on Ambient Assisted Living -AAL).

The SOPRANO project aims to develop affordable, smart ICT-based assisted living services with interfaces which are easy to use for older people and familiar in their home environment

PERSONA is an Integrated Project (IP) that addresses the EU policy objective of establishing a European Social Model based on the wellness of EU citizens, where wellness is perceived in the context of "quality of life".

UUTE- Smart Home in a Suitcase- Service Platform for Assisted Living and Safety (9/2005 - 12/2008)
The UUTE project aims at integrating the technological expertise among Finnish and international research consortium and exploit these to form new wellness, healthcare and security service platforms. The UUTE project concentrates on immediate and on-demand support and safety by the "smart home in a suitcase" or "smart wearable platform" approaches with minimum system installation and removal costs made possible by the new wireless technology and robust software architecture.

NETCARITY- A networked multi-sensor system for elderly people: health care, safety and security in home environment (ongoing)
NETCARITY proposes a new integrated paradigm to support independence and engagement in elderly people living alone at home. The project will seek to advance ambient intelligence technologies in the integration of micro and nano systems in a networked wireless/wired multi-sensing environment with plug and play capabilities and intelligent decision making for the effective detection of critical situations and support of task completion. Efforts will be concentrated in developing low-cost solutions which could rapidly reach the market and facilitate easy adaptation in a wide number of existing homes.

ASK-IT- Ambient Intelligence System of Agents for Knowledge-based and Integrated Services for Mobility Impaired users (-12/2008)
The ASK-IT integrated project aims at establish Ambient Intelligence (AmI) in semantic web enabled services, to support and promote the mobility of Mobility Impaired people, enabling the provision of personalised, self-configurable, intuitive and context-related applications and services and facilitating knowledge and content organisation and processing.

MPOWER (10/2006- 02/2009)
MPOWER will define and implement an open platform to simplify and speed up the task of developing and deploying services for persons with cognitive disabilities and elderly.
The platform will in particular support:
1 Integration of SMART HOUSE and sensor technology;
2 Interoperability between profession and institution specific systems (e.g. Hospital Information System);
3 Secure and safe information management, including both social and medical information; and
4 Mobile users that often change context and tools.
