Success stories of DME Award winners will be combined with in-depth research presentations on the latest developments in the field of design, management and innovation. Additionally, on 12 November renowned American architect William McDonough (known specifically for his cradle-to-cradle philosophy) will reflect on the future of the planet, the role of creativity, and the opportunities available to be seized by entrepreneurs, citizens and public bodies.
One of the main new items of Barcelona Design Week 2008 is the DME Barcelona Congress on 11 and 12 November, a key international event in the design management calendar that will bring together representatives of the European Commission, Design Management Europe partners and agents, prestigious professionals and academics, and design-minded organisations.
Organised by the Barcelona Design Centre, the event includes a workshop and a conference. It will allow attendees to discover answers to several key questions within the design management field as well as explore the economic, environmental and social impact of good design management for Europe (and its relation to innovation procedures). The event will also provide the opportunity to introduce some DME Award Winners Stories (announced on 13 October in Cardiff) and the main findings of the European project.
Both the DME Workshop and the DME Conference will apply a very dynamic format in order to promote and enhance the debate between the speakers while interacting with participants. Moreover, attendees will have the chance to enjoy the DME Social Events, two evening events held at the Mies Van Der Rohe Pavilion.
